How does LUCA use AI in finance? Frequently asked questions

LUCA Team ·

How does LUCA use artificial intelligence in a company's finances, and how is it different from using ChatGPT?

LUCA uses artificial intelligence so a company's finances keep working without anyone having to ask: its AI agents review the information the company has connected and authorized every day, answer questions about the numbers and propose actions that a person approves. LUCA is the financial operating system for businesses in Mexico and the United States and, unlike a general-purpose AI assistant, it keeps the context of the business and is tied to real operations: invoices, collections, payments and bank accounts.

Below we answer the most common questions about how artificial intelligence works inside LUCA.

What is an AI agent in finance?

An AI agent is a system that doesn't just answer questions: it carries out tasks toward a specific goal. In finance, an agent can check whether collections match invoices, prepare the week's payments or warn you when cash flow won't be enough.

LUCA has four agents, each with a specific job:

  • CFO: projects how the month will close before it ends.
  • BI Master: turns the numbers into clear answers, without spreadsheets.
  • Treasurer: watches cash flow and gets payments ready on time.
  • Credit Advisor: recommends how much credit makes sense for the business and handles the application together with the user. Financing is provided by a financial institution and is subject to approval.

What can I ask LUCA?

LUCA AI includes a conversational agent you can ask in plain language, using the company's real data. Some examples:

  • Do we have enough cash flow to cover payroll this month?
  • Which client pays late most often?
  • How much are we owed today, and since when?
  • How will the month close if current sales hold?

You can also ask it to do things, such as scheduling supplier payments or preparing payment reminders, which then wait for approval.

How is it different from uploading my files to ChatGPT or Claude?

A general-purpose AI assistant is very useful, but every time you have to upload the files, explain the context and ask for the task. If the file changes, you repeat the process.

In LUCA, information is permanently connected to banks, invoicing, payment platforms and the SAT (Mexico's tax authority). The agents work with that information every day and keep the company's context: its industry, its clients and the way it operates. The main difference is that the AI works for you, instead of you asking it for things one by one.

Can I query LUCA from ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes. LUCA can be queried from ChatGPT and Claude, so your team can ask about the company's numbers without leaving the tools it already uses. This is useful, for example, to prepare an analysis or a plan with LUCA's information and then return to the platform to carry it out.

Does the AI make decisions for me?

No. LUCA's agents propose; the responsible person approves. No payment or transaction is executed without authorization. The company can also set roles, permissions and approval limits, and everything people and agents do is recorded so it can be audited.

What happens if the AI makes a mistake?

By design, agent actions go through a person's review before they are executed. If a proposal isn't right, it simply isn't approved. The log lets you check later what was proposed and what was authorized. That's why LUCA doesn't replace the judgment of the owner or the finance team: it gives them organized information and prepared work so they can decide better.

Does LUCA learn how my business works?

Yes. LUCA is configured for each company's industry and keeps the context of its operations: what kind of clients it has, what industry it's in and what tools it has connected. For example, an e-commerce business needs to see sales from different platforms with fees already deducted, while a marketing agency needs to know which accounts are profitable. With that context, the agents' answers and suggestions fit the company.

Does LUCA's AI replace my accountant or my finance team?

No. LUCA works alongside your current accountant and your finance team. Its role is to take repetitive operational work off their plate, such as reconciling, finding invoices or chasing information, so they can spend their time on analysis and strategy.

What does LUCA's AI do without being asked?

The agents review the numbers every day. Tasks they handle on their own include:

  • Sending payment reminders to clients, with prior approval.
  • Pulling invoices from the SAT.
  • Reminding you of tax obligations before the deadline.
  • Alerting you when cash flow won't be enough.
  • Flagging duplicate payments, past-due clients and unusual expenses.

Every alert comes with a suggested action ready to approve.
